Dream a little dream~

Another major "event" happened this week~ we took down the crib and Nova is now sleeping in his big boy bed. Rather emotional I must say!

Some of you have asked how old Nova is... he's going to be 4 in April!

Yes, I know that's a long time to be in a crib.
However, he never tried to climb out. Never stood there and jumped up and down. I put him down, he slept, he woke up, I took him out. He's always been so calm when he wakes up. Usually lays there and talks to himself, or does sing-song noises... and if I don't come soon enough I'd get a long "MOOOOOM!"

I was so glad he was able to stay in it for so long because we worry about the stairs.

The crib in the beginning... my dad painted it red for me~My Grandpa Nova had refinished the rocking chair for my mom when she was pregnant with me.

I bought most of the bedding on ebay, nothing was from a matching set.

Awaiting baby boy...

Just a few weeks old here...cleaning the belly button.
I don't know if we have other pics of him at this age in the crib, he slept in the cradle during the day~

The night of his first birthday~ Cowboy theme

Second birthday~ Bear in the Big Blue House theme

Third birthday~ Toy Story theme, (could you guess?)
His big boy bed a few years ago. I've sinced moved it and changed the headboard. Still looking for the *right* headboard. Oh, and that's Melly. If you're making a bed, she's there! This miss-matched bedding is mostly from ebay as well. Flag pillow from Big Lots.
Check out the drapery tie backs!
The bed as it looks now~

Oh Nikki~ I love the pictures of Nova growing as he sleeps! And the one of you in the lovely nightie while you were expecting him is such a beautiful picture of motherhood waiting to happen! I don't think he's too old to just now be going into a big boy bed. As far as I'm concerned there are no rules for such things. Each child and situation is individual. If we listen to the world too much
all of our children will be robbed of their childhood. It goes by too quickly as it is!

Nikki,
He is just precious. Oh my how they grow so fast, my little boy is now 13 and asking for the barn keys to get his go-kart out!

LOVE the cowboy bedding, especially the chenille one, you did fabulous gathering all those on ebay!

I agree about the crib. I think we push our kids to grow into the next stage too often. I can promise you that you won't be in crisis one day saying "Oh Gosh! I wish we would have put him a big boy bed sooner!"

Love the moment!

What a sweetie!

Awwww, that is precious!!! My climber is the only one that didn't climb out of her bed...but give her a flat surface and she was like a monkey...dishwasher, table, leg.....anything but the crib. The other two weren't climbers but figured out how to get out of the bed.

Nova is such a handsome fellow and I loved seeing him "through the years". Thanks for sharing your precious boy with us.
I know moving our " babies" from the crib to a big bed is so heart wrenching. I remember thinking of it as a type of reality slap that my "baby" was really growing up, as much as I didn't want it to go so fast. My eldest baby is soon to celebrate her 24th bday, and my "baby" is going to be six next month. Why can't they stay "little" a bit longer?
Hugs! and way to go Nova on moving into your big boy bed!!!

This is such a sweet post...look at you all glowing in your pregnancy days...Of course you are always glowing...that dress is so pretty on you...and Nova is so precious....the time goes by too fast doesn't it?! I bet Nova loves his new bed, though the baby bed was adorable too... and so is that chair that your grandpa made...what a treasure that is. I sure love the mix- match look of things in the bedding...looks so playful and fun...you are so creative...I love what you throw together! Hope you have a great afternoon!

Awwwwwww... he's a big boy now! but how cool is it to look back at all the years in his crib?
How has he transitioned to the bed? Does he keep getting up and walking around?

Awe. Tell him to slow down!!!! I love all the sleeping pics. My oldest was about Nova's age when he gave up the crib. He never climbed out either. And then came Daniel who climbed out at 9 months! My life was over! LOL

Awwwww, such precious photos. They do grow up fast but with each new year it brings more joy. My Son will be 21 this year, and my Daughter will be 14, when did I get old, LOL.

His room is looking great!! I remember when we moved Andrew up to a big boy bed. We had to bribe him (because Brad was on the way ;) so we promised him sheets with the California Raisins on them, which was his obsession at that time! Long time ago!
