Knock, knock!

Hiya folks, come on in!
Help me to decide what color (s) to paint my front doors!

I'm pretty much set on a cranberry red, to match my mailbox. Before we painted the house I had planned on just stripping the doors. I know they would be beautiful. But I think they would get lost from the street and red would really pop.

And since the doors are already painted, it's no big deal.

The thing is, I can't decide if I like the swag white or not. And if I don't paint it white, what other option would there be? It would be boring to paint it all red. So, what do you think?

We just painted the exterior last year. It's Jersery Cream from Sherwin Williams. The new porch floor color is Storm Shadow from Walmart, (which is made by SW).

Oh how I wish it stayed shiny and mirror like after it dried!

and what about red with a metalic gold? Probably NOT, but I'm throwing it out there anyway!

The back porch~

While we've been working on our bathroom, we've also been working on other things such as the back porch.

Kevin painted it the same color as our exterior, Sherwin Williams Jersey Cream. The ceiling is Heavenly Skies from Walmart. The floor will be REPAINTED. I HATE it. It should've been more red like this font color, not ORANGE like this!

In this slide show you will see before and afters, (but not finished). The porch was not always enclosed. The door you see with the lock leads to another little room almost the size of the porch area, with a trap door in the floor that leads to the dungeon basement.

The clapboard siding is what is underneath our ugly steel siding on the entire home. I wish we had the money to pull the steel all off. Oh well, I like it much better since we painted the exterior of the house.

We are not finished of course. Need to repaint the burnt orange floor. I ordered shades from Penney's that are the red I want, so will have floor paint colormatched. Need to add a peice of beadboard under that one window. Finish fixing windows. Hang a new light fixture.

But anyhoo, here it is!

The front porch floor paint! I cannot tell you how much I ADORE this color. It's called Storm Shadow from Walmart. We had used it on the porch of our last home as well. I love how it looks blue or green depending on the light.

I hope we get these blue doors stripped soon!

I chose oil based high gloss this time and I'm just so happy with how it turned out! We were trying to get the last of it finished up last night when a jogger went by. She asked how much I had the house listed for!! I said it's not listed! (We have a sign in our yard advertising the painting company that did our house.) She stopped and did a double take~

Wow, MY house being stalked for once, woohoo! That's a switch! She said how nice it was looking and I was quite flattered.

Just wait till we get the shutters up, that'll really knock the jogger's socks off!

I got another coat on most of it tonight. I can't wait to put the furniture, hanging baskets, and planters back up. I wish everything would've been done for the porch party!

BTW, this trellis is actually one of those cheap corner shelves. I had Kevin take the shelves off and I love how I can "mold" it around the pot. I bought a second one for my other mandevilla this year at Dollar General. Unfortunately it's not exactly the same... oh well~ once they're vined up you won't be able to tell!

Mission Impossible?

MISSION: To paint ugly tile around garden tub. The tile on the wall will be covered with beadboard. Kevin removed the tile from the side of the tub enclosure last night, now the beadboard can fit flush there.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED: Grey, black and teal tile annihilated. I'm quite happy with the results! Must cure for 72 hours, so I will give you an update then! Click on photo for closer view!

Potty break!!

I'm going to jump out of the home tour line up and and show y'all what we're up to right now. We are working on our downstairs bathroom. It's right off of the kitchen. I believe the kitchen used to be one huge room, and this was sectioned off as the home needed another powder room. Having a potty next to the kitchen isn't the most appealing~ but with an old home you have to take what you can get!

Here are some photos from when we moved in. I hated that fish border. Sorry Sebastian, it's NOT better "Under The Sea" and this border and tile have GOT to go! Nothing like getting that song stuck in your head every time you went in there~

Got the border down and it looked SO much better already! Another issue is that the sink was butted up to the window, in which they "cut the trim to fit"... ugh. The sink should have been centered on that wall and it's been driving me crazy.

My idea for the tile is to use epoxy tile paint. Then put up beadboard. Here's the paint~

Only trouble is, the humidity can't be too high or the finish won't be glossy. I really wanted to do this over Memorial weekend! But we've been getting so many storms the last few weeks! We got a good 5 inches the other night.

(It's hard to get our grass cut!)

Rain, rain go away! I want to paint my tile today!!

I'm not going to share which color I decided on. You'll have to come back and see! I would like to be finished within a few weeks, and I hope you like the results!

Today I'm quite frustrated with painting issues, but I'll go more into that later...
