Back at the vet till Monday~

Melly kept on a strainin' and didn't pee a drop at home. I didn't see her eat or drink either.
So back to the vet she went.
They had to sedate her and put in a catheter. The lovely cone collar is a must... and you know how they dig wearing those! She looks so forlorn and miserable.
She did eat some, and is getting fluids intravenously so they can really flush out the urethra, which is very inflamed. I'm thinking that's all it was this whole time, and possibly the surgery wasn't necessary. They said there were no real stones, just a lot of sandy grit that she could have passed. (Had she not been so inflamed for so long?!)

On a lighter note, I got some goodies at a garage sale Friday. Will share soon!

i so hope she does well.we were coming home from the hospital yesterday and i saw a pidgeon that looked sick.i had my daughter to stop and i picked it up.anytime you can pick a bird up,somethings wrong.
i rubbed her head and preened her all the way home, she loved it.you could tell she was a baby.i.she wasn't afraid of me.2.she was soooooo small.
i wish so badly i had stopped by the vets.this morning she had passed away.she had a sore on her little chest.it's my guess some child shot her with a pellet gun or something.i really thought she was going to make it.her wings were fine, her legs were fine.but Jesus needed her i guess.
i have an aviary and i have one pidgeon we also found on the side of the road.she would love a friend so badly.we'll keep looking and wish our little friend well.
good luck with your baby.she's in great hands i'm sure....ann

I'm thinking of you and Melly. I know how worried you must be. Hopefully they can get the inflamation down. I understand cats are suspectible to kidney disease. I didn't know that but this morning on a local weekend show they had a doctor in who was talking about a system he developed to give his cats fresh water constantly. We only give bottled water to our dogs.

Keep us posted.

Hugs,
Marsha

Aww poor thing. She is going to have a long long weekend away from home.

Maybe she passed a stone and that is why she was so inflamed? I guess it's something you will never know if she needed the surgery or not.

I hope she gets better soon. Maybe the rest at the vets will help her to heal faster.

Wondering what fun stuff you found at the garage sale.

Hugs,
Joanne

I am so glad to hear that we are not the only ones that spend this kind of money on our kitties. Midgie was in for some of the same symptoms... turns out everything is okay. However, we found out that she only has one kidney. So it turned out to be a good thing that we took her in. Now we have to be extra careful to watch her....

I sure hope Melly is home soon. They do look so pitiful in the kennels. :(
