...Next trip I'll bring you some green silk for a frock to match it~

...Rhett says to Scarlett as she wears the green plumed bonnet he brought her from Paris.

As some of you may recall, I had Scarlett's Green Christmas dress made. To see the development and Scarlett's dress from the film, click here. Though no watered silk could be found, the fabulous jacquard made a lovely reproduction. It turned out beautifully! Thank you Christine!! Pics to follow!

I recieved it just in time for a Gone With the Wind event in St. Louis, MO. "Gateway to the Wind." Author Sally Tippett Rains wrote a book about Margaret Mitchell's GWTW titled, "The Making Of A Masterpiece". Sally put on quite a soiree~ In collaboration with actual stars from the film and many special guests, you were pea green with envy if you did not attend! Check out this recap of the three day weekend!

Day one was at White Haven, Ulysses S. Grant's home at Grant's Farm. Costume was not called for this day, but since I had spent the entire week previous to the event revamping a white ruffled dress I found on eBay; sewing on over 50 YARDS of lace... I had to wear it!
Here's a before pic of the dress as purchased~

My dress as found, need to take off red buttons and re-work sash and add buckle. Lace needed on ruffles and a few other spruce ups.

I removed the red buttons and added white satin bridal buttons, adjusted the belt and added a vintage buckle, made a brooch, sewed lace to the bodice and tiers...

Putting lace together for bodice front

...added a hoop slip and voilĂ ! Scarlett's white ruffled prayer gown~

Prayer ruffle dress

On the eve of the second day, there was a charity ball for Rainbows for Kids. This my friends, is where I got to wear my green Christmas gown.... do you want to see?? OK!

Here I am giving that dyed hair woman Belle Watling a piece of my mind!

Hi Nikki!

The Scarlett gowns are fabulous!! My all time favorite movie, or shall I say epic. I'm so glad to see someone having so much fun with it. I love all the costumes but I still remember the 1st time I saw Scarlett in that white prayer gown which makes it a favorite for me. You look gorgeous in it Nikki!! Thank you so much for sharing your GWTW experience!

Hugs, Sherry (a Southern Bell at heart)

So cute! You know one of my favorite TV shows, to this day, is Designing Women. I don't know if you've seen the series finale, but it was a two part episode where they flashed back into imagining they were in Gone With the Wind and how they handle things differently! Fab! Being from the Richmond, VA area, I, of course, have strutted down the stairs at the Jefferson Hotel, which are rumored to be the inspiration for the movie--they are hauntingly similar! Oh, too those dresses are fab! Not sure what I'm going to do with it, but I picked up a beautiful vintage Miller & Rhoads wedding dress, complete with crenlins, millinery tiara with veil, train and all! I can't wait to find something cleaver to do with it--even if it is just a photo prop!

Now Following!
