How to look *Rosie* for the 4th!

Wouldn't it be fun to wear your hair like this on Indepenence Day? Or for a summer BBQ? It's SO easy!

I have a rather flat head in back, and normally have trouble getting a bandana to stay on my head. Well, not with this look! It works swell!

Below is a tutorial by the lovely Iris. She has many wonderful videos on youtube, check them out! Aren't her false lashes killer?! I've got to try them again some time. Further down you'll find a vintage pinup style makeup tutorial!

I do a lot of "hair twirling" in my updo's at work. For proms and weddings I usually use hot rollers or the curling iron before I wind up the locks to be sure they'll stay all day.

If you don't have long hair, don't despair! Scroll on down!

This is my hair in the front, but in the back I'm wearing a faux curly pony tale clip. I just wad my hair up and put in the jaw clip. Divide pony tale in a few sections. Roll up and pin. If you have trouble finding a hair piece to match your locks and you're unsure about which shade to get, rule of thumb is to always go a bit lighter than the shade of your natural hair. I'm lucky here, it matches perfectly. But I've since colored my hair a brighter red and can't wear it right now! : (

But when I could, this do would take about 10 minutes, really!

I bought this clip at Sally Beauty Supply. It's a Revlon brand. If you like you can splurge and go for a human hair piece and have it dyed to match. I have several pieces and they are so fun, fast and easy. Even if your hair is super short, the bandana will conceal that.

Here's that pinup look tutorial by the adorable Amy. All of her videos are marvelous as well. Shoot, I just like to listen to her talk!

Don't you just love doing updos? Especially retro hair. I was in heaven doing them for local productions of Evita and Little Shop Of Horrors. It is bar none, my favorite! Thanks for posting these, btw. You have gorgeous eyes girl!

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! You look amazing! Thanks for the tutorial. I enjoyed learning. So far I've only tried out the hairpieces that come on a rubber band and create a little top-not. It was fun!

I love the hair style. This is my first time to your blog. I found you through Cindy at My Romantic Home (I think...haha). I saw that you live in MO...me too! What town do you live in, if you don't mind me asking? We live in St. Joseph, MO in the Northwest part of the state.

I loved watching this makeup video! Ooh, I wish I could make myself look like that!
So I'm assuming you're a hair stylist? And can I just say one more time without embarrassing you, that you are exquisitely beautiful? Oh my goodness, if I could come back in a next life I'd want to look like you!

Gosh, you look so gorgeous!

And thank you for the 4th inspiration. I didn't have a notion of what I was going to do besides put on a pair of overalls and work in the garden, but thanks to your post I did more of a Rosie thing, and I just love it!

You missed your calling girl, you should have been a model! Your hair looks awesome here, and I have to agree with the others, terrific eyes! Wish we lived closer, because I'd ask you to come over and fix my hair! lol

Your hair is just amazing! I'm so jealous. Come by my blog sometime. I have some videos my daughter did (they are on YouTube too!) of eye makeup application.

Nikki, Thanks for visiting. I realized that first video on my blog was the wrong one! I'm glad you looked at one of the better ones. I can't say enough good things about the Bare Minerals makeup. I even wrote a review of it on my blog...if you are interested, I put a quick link to it on the first post. Mineral makeup is like magic! My daughter just started using the new one from Mac and she likes it too.

You are just too darn cute, love the bandana. I have very short hair as I have very thick coarse extremely straight hair so I wear it short but if I could I would definitely wear it in an updo. You go girl!!! And hey, I call dibs on that trailer on eBay....LOL.

Nikki, I love your hair. :) You asked about Silver Bella... this will be my first year to attend, but basically it's like paper craft convention. Each participant will attend 5 workshops in hopes of learning new crafting techniques. The instructors are amazing & well known in the blogging world. Anyhow, it's suppose to be a big deal amongst the crafty bloggers.... and I need all the help I can get. :) xoxo, Joanna
