The Fairies have moved in...

We had a dead cottonwood tree taken down a few years ago. I told them to leave the stump because I love planting flowers in and around them. We're just getting them started this year. Apparently a *starter home* was just what these fairies had in mind, as it looks as if they've made themselves right at home! Isn't that a lovely porch? The perfect fairy dwelling! This stump is right outside my dining room window. The cats love to watch the action here; be it bunnies, birds, deer, or... even fairies?? Looks like my ivy is finally taking hold, yea!

Ah... my new tenants must beware of Woody the Woodpecker tho! He's really been going to town on my stump. I hope he's eaten all of the bugs as I won't have anything left if he keeps coming back! This photo is not the greatest, it's through the screen and it was getting dark, but I caught him!

Oh my gosh, I love this so much! I know I am much to old to believe in fairies, but that stump with the toadstool just really makes me want to believe! I really like the picture taken through the screen too...almost looks like vaseline on a lens to give it a dreamy look!

Your stump is lovely and the perfect spot for fairies, goblins and elves! Although I hear goblins are the naughty ones so maybe they are not so welcome. Thank you for visiting Thatchwick Cottage. Recently I had to take out a huge tree in my garden and I have a stump just waiting to be made pretty. You have given me some great ideas.Have a happy day! Eleanor

what lucky fairies, to have such a sweet little home to live in. Even with the woodpecker noise. I'm sure they are glad he keeps the bugs off of them.

Who knew a simple stump could be so beautiful and magical! I do hope that Woody and the Fairies can be friends.

Oh, this post is delightful. I'm glad I followed Katherine's link. I wouldn't have missed your fairy home for the world. What a wonderful job you've done with it.

The photo of the woodpecker is awesome as well. Hope you will drop by to visit me sometime at my Writing Nook.

Blessings,

Oh, how darling! In such a magical little spot, there's no difficulty in believing in fairies... the difficulty is in believing that the Little Folk aren't in those sweet ready-made homes.

It would be tempting to sneak out there at twilight and see if they have the fairy bonfires burning. Sometimes when I hear the wind chimes tinkling at night, I think that the fairies must have gone out for a night of singing and merry-making.
